It all started as a way of bringing people together and playing chess. It wasn’t long before people took interest and Checkmate! Birmingham was “officially” born.

Founded in 2021 and based in Birmingham, Checkmate! has a devoted community made up of enthusiastic individuals who enjoy sharing ideas and activities.

There is no need to sign up or register.

Simply turn up to an event and play!

We've held regular events across some fantastic venues in Birmingham, including; Cafe Artum, Grain & Glass, Hockley Social Club & Sommar Lounge.
